It was a few years after moving to France when we started looking for land to build a house in France. Now, the house is a home and we are settled.
These videos follow us as we endeavoured to understand and navigate the building of a home in a foreign country. This was our space to record that process (for ourselves) and to share it with friends and family across the world.
25.0.1 – Painting Every Day
Since our last update we have moved and been kept busy painting.
25.0 – The House is Ours
We met the builder for the final meeting. The house is no longer a building site and the keys are all ours.
24.0.1 – The (Almost But Not Quite) End
This was to have been our last meeting with the builder. The meeting where everything is signed off and they change the locks and give us the keys. Except it wasn’t.
24.1 – Replacing Halogen with LED Bulbs
I replaced the E27 halogen bulbs in the basement with 5000K LED replacements.
24.0 – List of Problems
We meet the builder for the last scheduled meeting with a list of problems in hand.
23.0 – Orbital Pole Sander
Sanding continues. We have added an orbital pole sander to the mix and are making better progress.
22.1 – Progress Week 62

22.0 – Sanding and Painting Plaster Board / Drywall
We have begun patching, sanding, and painting the plaster board/drywall. We started with a test wall before moving onto painting an entire room. Along the way we decide that two coats of under coat/primer are required.

We are rapidly approaching the time when the builders' work will be done and our work will begin. So many of the finishings are going on now.
